Caeper is organising a game night for FC next Friday night.
It's funny because SnowGhost and I have already tried but know one got back to us.
They have a Discord channel we can meet at and Caeper will hopefully come here and give the details.
He said they will have a server up.

I also have all the old modded maps Caeper. I can provide a download link to the packs we made.

Looks like it can be done with tunngle.
Its a tunnel program that works like Himachi but looks better.
It also has waiting rooms so you can link up with other players that you don't know.

Once you register, you download tunngle with the link.
Note that there is a free with adds version. Just scroll down.

You need to patch the game to 1.33.<----edit.. There is a 1.4 patch. See link for details.
https://www.tunngle.net/community/topic/178521-far-cry-v14-and-crynetworkdll/

You need a a modified server connect file for Farcry that you download and replace into your fc directory.
LAN fix. Find it all here:
http://www.lanpartyguide.com/farcry.html

Heres a tube on it.

How to run a dedicated server. This may or may not work with UBI rego gone.

Patches can be downloaded from Crytek

interesting idea, challenge will be to de-patch the steam 1.4 version to 1.3 or go through the mind numbing process of installing FC from 6 cd's and then patching to 1.3 and I do have all the old patches if you want to me upload 1.3 to the website.

there are a few 1.3 patches and I think they are all 32bit (1.3 1.31 1.32 .133) 1.4 is also 64bit and that's the steam version so I think that is the version we would need to use.

I agree.
We also need a NBN connection to run the server.
I don't have it yet. I could run a server through my Cube but the data is expensive.
Caeper said he had something organised so have to wait to hear from him.
I posted at FB the link here.
Snow, Caeper and I are the only guys to post at FB in 5 years so don't think any of the old guys go there.

I will do a mass mail thing again but will try and post though my own client so it doesn't get spammed.

I have added to the 1st post how to run dedicated server link.
This may or may not work with the rego shut down.
We will have to try it and see.

the authentication server was shutdown in 2015 so a regular dedi won't work even by IP direct; only via a virtual Lan link could we get it to work.

So I have mucked around tonight with the install disks.
I finally worked out not to select the DirectX 9.0b install as this causes the installer to crash.

I have run the patcher to 1.4.
I can't seem to find the amd64 bit patcher. well I found it but was warned by chrome it was a tampered with.

My question is, does the steam version run without any hassles because I will just buy that.

No worries.
I will muck around a little more with the install but don't want to waist to much time on it.

Have not heard from Caeper yet so the whole thing may be off?
Not sure anyone else will have time to install for this weekend so it may need to be moved back to the following weekend.

I have those 2v2 maps we used in comps. I think they may be great to test out the game on.

I've got all the maps on an external drive and the patches, I'll take a screenie and post them.

for 64 bit (x64) patches 1.3 - 1.32 are not needed.
install the 64 bit Upgrade: First the "Patch 1.32 AMD64" then the "AMD64 Exclusive Content Update".
then install the 1.4 patch

Seems their was an issue with the DVD.
I used the 5 disk's and then patched.

Time to test.

In my defence, it was the 80's and everyone had a DvD hanging from their rear vision mirror.

I copied it to a USB and that worked.

Still no post's from Caeper at FB or here?
Probably something I said?

Howdy guys,

We have created a server for Multiplayer that doesn't require repatching or anything difficult. Just requires you to connect to a specific VPN (Details will be provided tomorrow) and you simply connect through the console of the game by using the Tilde key and entering the VPN name. Very simple.

So, If you're interested in playing tomorrow night, we'll be starting at 8pm

Hope to see you all there.
Jumped on before to test it all out with ws23ws98 and it was as though I played it yesterday 🙂

So, It's just the 1.4 patch that it comes with and we're just going to be playing the stock maps for now. There is plenty of them for tomorrow night.
