This seems to be an everlasting issue, dating back to the dawn of time nigh on 6 years ago. Since that historic time, people have ducked and weaved at any chance to avoid this pressing question. 'Far Cry' or 'FarCry?'
We know that our beloved forums list it as FarCry, in conjunction with the naming of the {FB} clan (going off their steam community group). The paragon that is the box aids us not in our woes; sure there isn't a space but it is arguable that the upper-case letters separate the two words. In stark contrast is our TeamSpeak channel; unwaveringly titled the much more grammatically correct 'Far Cry'.
Reverend predecessors of this wonderful game, I do beseech thee, did thou merely adopt the spelling 'FarCry', boycotting the former, in order to stamp your authoritative presence on the game?

The first smart-arse that comes in and says, 'actually it's FC2 these days' will be banned.

I went with the 3rd option.. Who could resist?

FarCry is as it is!

[img:28ygo48b]http://perludus.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/farcry.jpg[/img:28ygo48b]

I don't think I made the TS one if it's Far Cry.

I did resist the FC2 joke though..

Only just!

sry daeds but I went option 3, I just do what DJ tells me to do Embarassed

but in truth it's actually both; Farcry is german for Far Cry so if you take the literal transalation then it's Far Cry but given that it is a title, rather than a collection of nouns grouped to form a phrase, it is FarCry.

*may the first speaker of the affirmative please rise*

the grammar nazi that i am wishes to trump your pathetic excuse of 'evidence'. first off, correct me if i'm mistaken, but ubisoft is french.
secondly:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/13520/">http://store.steampowered.com/.....t;&lt;!-- m -->
thirdly:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://farcry.uk.ubi.com/">http://farcry.uk.ubi.com/</.....t;&lt;!-- m -->
What say the rest of you?

on a side note, i was close to voting the third option myself, but figured it would get enough votes without mine [Image Can Not Be Found] i feel so unloved, mainly because i just didn't know me & my awesomeness weren't being appreciated.. i'm sure boz will put in a good word for me tomorrow morning... right boz?

[quote:16ezyk8f]German release controversy
Although the game was developed by a German company, it was subject to one of the most heated controversies about video games in Germany. Upon release of the demo version in March 2004, the Bundesprüfstelle für jugendgefährdende Medien found the violence level of the game (including gore and ragdoll physics) to be too high even for adults and quickly indexed the demo. The full version had most of that violence edited out (e.g. removed ragdoll behaviour of corpses), nevertheless it received a "Not suitable under 18" rating. A storm of indignation broke out. However, German gamers found out only days after the release that a slight modification of some files in the game's directory brought back most of the original gore. The first issue of Far Cry was also indexed, and several weeks later a new version followed with the same censored content but without the possibility to revert the changes.[/quote:16ezyk8f]

Which ones crap??.. The sequel? Yes, that's what you mean... Yes.

This is an interesting subject! Not so much the who made what and what found who. But i like to think it spelt as FarCry.

As mentioned somewhere else in this convoluted thread. the Capitals donate the independence of the two words and yet still give it that one word appeal. That CoZy feel. That feeling you feel when you wake up in the morning and cant go to the toilet straight away.

Daedalus, if it werent for you and Brimlad to stimulate my head, I'd be stuck with only conversations on elves and coloured whatsinames with Dyes, Treasures , Year of the Ox , ogres and gay stuff. Thanks fellas.

OH! OH! Here's something for you GW/WOW/FIESTA types. I watched "Benders game" the other day (Futurama full length movie) And there was leila and bender and fry trotting through an enchanted forest see, And leila looks into the distance and see's something and says :

"Ooooh is that a HoBBiT?"

to which Bender replys :

"Nah that's a Rabbit and a HoBo, But theyre makin' a HoBBiT"

HAHAHAHAAHHAHHHHAHAHAH!!

daeds I think you got it right with Far Cry v FarCry. Ubi have registered Far Cry as a trademark so the title must be read as Far Cry not FarCry.
I'm guessing the confusion about the title is from that iconic cover that DJ has boldly displayed and the engine name CryEngine which Crytek registered as one name.

I voted for FarCry not Far Cry based on the fact that it looks alot better that way, plus the logo is like that. And for that trademark crap or whatever it was, i rekon whoeverdid that CLEARLY misintepreted that it should be FarCry NOT Far Cry.

well thats my 2 cents [Image Can Not Be Found]

ahh, just like "alot" looks a lot better than "a lot", yet one is acceptable english :p

it seems we have agreed that the correct spelling is indeed Far Cry, yet the Aussie FC community decided to boycott this in order to stamp their presence on the game, yes? (hehe awesomeness if that's the case!)

seems as ludicrous as saying FarCry2 (looks like THAT on the box :mrgreen: ) -btw hit jackass with the banstick if it's not too much trouble all-powerful BoZ.

but doesn't the data collected from the poll suggest that FarCry is indeed the correct, and superior spelling, as apposed to "Far Cry" Daedalus??
